Lauren also creates trainings to educate other clinicians about eating disorders and has run numerous groups for those struggling with both eating disorders and general mental health issues. In addition to her clinical work, Lauren lectures in the Doctorate programme at Teesside University as well as the MSc in Clinical Nutrition and Eating Disorders at University College London.
As a Counselling Psychologist, Lauren’s therapeutic approach is integrative, and she has sought out additional training in various models since qualification. Her core training is both psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural, and she has gone on to receive additional training in the Maudsley Anorexia Nervosa Treatment for Adults (MANTRA), Specialist Supportive Clinical Management (SSCM), Enhanced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT-E), and EMDR. Therapeutic models aside, Lauren is relational and client-focussed, and will tailor her treatment plans to suit the unique needs of the individual. The development of the therapeutic relationship is a key element of Lauren’s work as she feels it is the basis of therapeutic change. Lauren enjoys utilising humour and genuineness to encourage the relationship’s development and to lighten the work when appropriate.
On a personal note, Lauren lives in the North East of England with her husband and cat, Honey.
